A NWS Watch indicates conditions are favorable for the development of severe weather in your area.  Watches allow you enough time to make preparations.

A NWS Warning indicates that severe weather exists or is imminent in your area, and you should take shelter immediately.

Active NWS Weather Watches and Warnings are broadcast over local radio and television, and the NOAA Weather Radio network

They are also available online, with separate listings for active Watches and Warnings for all counties in Tennessee.
