AlertVU

Important update on AlertVU delivery methods

It is strongly recommended, although not required, to provide a mobile phone (voice or text), landline, or a personal email for these alerts in addition to the Vanderbilt email address. Please encourage your faculty and staff members to review and update their AlertVU information within Oracle Cloud to ensure that they receive these alerts via a point of personal contact if desired.

VUPS and VUIT have upgraded the integration that maintains contact information within the AlertVU platform, providing daily updates to personal contact information from Oracle Cloud for faculty and staff. Now, any contact information previously entered in Vanderbilt’s legacy C2HR system, which was replaced by Oracle Cloud in January 2018, will no longer be used for AlertVU purposes. An article about this update was published in MyVU on March 9.

As of Spring 2023, VUMC has implemented the MyWorkday program. For more information about this change, please visit the MyWorkday Implementation page. Information about how to update your AlertVU information can be found below and in the AlertVU Resources section of this page.

Emergency information, when and where you need it

AlertVU rapidly sends messages to the delivery points the user has chosen—cell phone (voice or text), landline, and Vanderbilt email account—in the event of an emergency that poses an imminent threat or danger to the Vanderbilt community. Examples of such a threat include a tornado forecast to strike Vanderbilt or an active shooter on campus.
