Vanderbilt University Emergency Preparedness
Emergency Preparedness Mission Statement
Led by Director Johnny Vanderpool, our office's primary goal is to provide, in conjunction with the Campus Emergency Preparedness Program, information that ensures the safety and well-being of staff, faculty, students, and visitors in the event that an emergency occurs. A secondary purpose is to maintain essential business services and operations in the time of an emergency. Staff should be reminded that it is also a function of this plan to protect and secure University facilities, property, and equipment from loss.
StormReady® is a designation available to cities, counties, and universities-basically any geographic group of people that constitute a "community". By becoming a StormReady® University, Vanderbilt has shown a commitment to save lives during severe weather events, educate our community about severe weather, and improve coordination and timeliness of hazardous weather warning reception and dissemination.
